The 28th Retraining Session will focus on “Legal and Illegal Immigration: Challenges, Impacts and Solutions”. We are certain that the topic will be of great interest to all participants, since most European countries have been called upon to take some action in order to deal with this phenomenon that entails many parameters such as legal, economical and social ones.
As a result of globalization, the world that we live in has turned into a large neighbourhood. The challenges thus in this newly-shaped environment appear to be many and varied.
Modern means of transport, spectacular advances in technology, improvements in the means of communication, together with the infinite capabilities offered by the internet have facilitated the massive movement of populations throughout the world.
Migration is not a new phenomenon. Whether legal or illegal, it has always been a way through which people have sought a better way of life. Destinations which provide higher standards of living, like Europe or the U.S. attract people who are in search of better quality in their everyday life.
We often hear about the difficulties and challenges created as a result of migration. This conference will put under the microscope the challenges that result not only from illegal migration, but also the demands of legal (controlled) migration, its impact and proposed solutions.
What are the challenges for the authorities and institutions of a State? What are the challenges for society itself? What are the ambitions and demands of migrants?
